"Miles and Zoey: the Family Tree" by Kimberly Mayhoe (ages 8-12)

The first book of a new middle grade series follows twins, Miles and Zoey Montgomery as they travel back in time and connect to relatives in historical African-American backdrops. In "The Family Tree," the discovery of their Family Tree Book in the attic, takes the twins on an exciting adventure to 1857 where they help a slave ancestor travel the Underground Railroad to gain his freedom.
