As the last book in the Hotlanta series, What Goes Around seems to require readers to have read the earlier books in order to follow the story line comfortably. At least for me. There are also some product names (specifically fashion- probably well enough known among the intended teen-age audience) which I found distracting.
The book includes lots of present-day issues in its plot: crime, pregnancy, role-models, money and status. My favorite part of the book, though, is the dialogue between characters. The dialogue rang with authenticity.
