Giant Steps to Change the World, by Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee, illustrated by Sean Qualls
Abstract: Pursuing one's own path in life takes courage, strength, and perseverance, as demonstrated by such inspirational leaders as Barack Obama, Albert Einstein, and Muhammad Ali.
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, unpaged
Marva Collins, Ben Carson and Jean-Michel Basquiat are three people about whom I knew nothing until this book introduced them in such a way that I simply had to look them up to learn more.
ReplyDeleteI like the use of quotes from the people (who are unnamed in the text) on the end pages. These quotes are in the same order as the people are introduced in the book.
This is a motivational book with simple yet powerful illustrations and text.
